Probably the most important, and commonest, tip in photography is……… take lots of pictures.
I was just going through some photos, and came upon some pictures I took of my sister sitting by a pond. The setting was gorgeous, with green trees and bushes around, and a pleasing reflection in the water. The subject was beautiful, looking serene and picturesque — and all but one photo looked good. All the others were blurry, or the branches were moving too much, or my sister was adjusting her hair. Even the good photo is a bit off, because a branch is unfortunately placed so it sort of looks like it’s whacking my sister in the face! (The branch was actually nowhere near my sister’s face, but you can’t see the distance in the photo)
So… take lots of pictures!
But, quite often, you’ll take lots of pictures of something, and several of the photos will look pretty good. Most of the time I try to whittle it down so I only have one or two photos of a subject, and usually the photos are quite different, to help declutter my collection.
Today, I am sharing a set of photos of one subject. I liked how all these photos looked, and especially like how different they all look, showing up different aspects of the flowers.
This photo, above, is probably my favorite. It’s surprisingly difficult to capture something small like these flower buds, so I was pleased with how this photo looked.
And maybe it’s just me, but I also find it hard to take pictures of small things like these little flowers. It’s easy to overlook something small, especially when there are spectacular flowers like roses to photograph!
………….. Maybe that’s another photography tip: never overlook the small things.
Also, love that vibrant pink!
Happy Friday, everyone, and have a great weekend!
